Activity 2: Watch this videoto see how to play Monster Squeeze. What skills are you practicing when you play this game? Monster Squeeze: You will need a number line/number path, two game pieces, and a partner. (You could even create a number line with chalk outside!) Put a game piece at each end of the number line. You will think of a number and your partner will try to guess your number. Each guess you will move your game piece, if guess is too high move the piece on the end of your number line to the number guessed, if guess is too small move game piece at beginning of your number line to number guesses, repeat until your partner has "squeezed" the number you though of. (Number line could go up as high as you want, you could even make a teen number line with all the tricky teens) Be sure to check out video linked above for more detailed instructions!
Activity 3 Top It: To play Top It. You will need a deck of playing cards. You can discard the face cards OR Jack=10, Queen=11, King=12. Each player turns a card over at the same time. The player with the greater number keeps both cards. Play until one player has all cards.
No deck of cards at home? No problem, make your own, what a great way to practice writing your numbers! You can write numbers from 0-10 (or for an extra challenge up to 20!) For optimal playing experience you may want to write each number 3 or 4 times on different cards!
